Bitterly cold here on North Uist with snow showers falling as soft balls of ice but not quite hail stones just poked my head out to see if it was hail snow or rain cold and windy.

Oh heck, lawn is covered in god's dandruff as my granny used to call it and tis minus 4 degrees - is this armageddon?

about 5mm of snow on the ground and 8 hours of snow predicted for today, but only light according to the met office.

We've had a wet and very windy night it's 13c so not cold, according to the weather we are in for a few wet days, it's great for the locals as it hasn't rained for months but not exactly what we are here for.

Quick, nip out and buy as much bread milk and soup as you can before it all goes!

24 hours of light rain. Windy overnight . Main cisterns full . Warm
Southerly winds, keep temperatures comfortable.

Had ' hotel ' showers this morning and don't feel guilty about flushing the loo.
I'll spare you the photos.

Leaving the wonderful desert where it will be 21 and :The_Sun_Emoji::The_Sun_Emoji::The_Sun_Emoji: today, 26 by next week and heading over the snowy hills to San Diego where it's still sunny but only 16 degrees today, should be up to 20 there in a few days.
I'd love to have been home to see the amazing snow, but glad that we put off return as a few days at Heathrow have very little appeal!

Just for you then bill this was my views out the truck

We have a dramatic storm, crashing around us. Even Hailstones rattling on the roof and terrace..
My Nephew, a Humber Pilot, recommends www.xcweather.co.uk. Just tried it... It's pretty damn good..

A weather report of extremes today.

In anticipation of relatively bad weather in Herts for the next few days I left about 0300 today and drove around the M25 and down the M23 to Gatwick. It was -7°C with heavy snow on the south side of the M25 and M23.
This was the view across the airport through the de-icer covering the plane:

Then about 7 hours later and 24.5°C driving through a sand storm blowing across the extensive dunes at the northern end of Fuerteventura:

It was about 17°C overnight and by this morning the (literally) howling wind had gone elsewhere.
It's bright grey at the moment but with luck the sun will break through the thin cloud later.
