What did you do to your van today?

Ordered a new Mattress for delivery when we get back from the current trip; still finalising the additional Leisure Battery and electrics upgrade inc new Solar Panel with work somewhere between end of March and mid-April, depending on the arrival date of the shipment and whether the US pirate ships try to nick the cargo ...

Got in it...and drove South! To get away from the hurricane damage...decided where to actually go en route...

Should have stayed in Moncofa! When the Orange & Yellow Wind warnings passed, we headed for the promenade, expecting to see the beach spread all over it; barely a grain of sand dislodged, BUT there was a crowd (well, over 100 ...) on the beach and breakwaters watching 5-6 dolphins shooting the breeze and just leaving clear of the water about 50 -100m from shore, but swimming parallel to it. A pure delight to watch - just a pity that the school was dispersed too widely and too far for the phone camera to get any piccies ...

And, unlike those in the 4th book of the trilogy by Douglas Adams, 'The Hitchhikers' Guide to the Galaxy', *our* dolphins didn't leave a goodbye note thanking us for all the fish ... 😀

Permanently solved our cutlery draw from inconveniently coming open when driving after the last quick bodge finally failed. Cleaned the seal on the main rooflight as it was trying to glue itself shut.

Filled it with fuel after a wasted trip to the Camra who were closed (need papers for insurance) . At least I got the cheapest diesel in our area which made me feel a bit better! Started filling the garage with boxes of wine to take back to UK. Hoping we can get our annual oil change in at the local Portuguese garage...go there each year as they only charge for the oil and labour is free! Due any day now.

Took battery out and charged it as there wasnt enough power to crank it at starting speed.
I thought the cab battery was meant to stay charged with the 240v hook up 🤔.
Mostly that's not the case. The built-in charger often only charges the hab batteries.

A small smart charger is about £20 from Lidl (sometimes) or £25 elsewhere. If your starter battery is running down, it's a good investment.

The church where my first marriage took place in 1974 was decommissioned, and sold to an Undertaker who used it to as a workshop for his vehicles (true!)

So it became both a place to have an aisle change so that the hearse could have an oil change ... 😁

Fixed our gas hob. One burner was only operating low until the jet was poked through. Another burner would not stay lit too well but a wiggle of the thermocouple connector cured it.
Inspired by you, Ian, I did the same. All 3 burners on the gas hob had soot and dust deposits (hob almost opposite the hab door, so windborne specks are easily attracted). Didn't need to adjust thermocouple or poke gas jets, but they all burn much cleaner with all the muck and debris removed!

The over fridge oven is also suffering, but I can't get access to remove the burner covers. Managed to rub some of the crud off to improve the heat output up as far as pathetic, but suspect it may need a professional strip down and clean

I have one of my 3 rings which appears pretty blocked and a very small flame (but is consistant all the way around if that is relevant?). Been wary of trying to clean it in case end up putting contaminants into the pipe and making it worse!

I took off the 2 small Torx screws to remove the burner cover, after removing the pan support; and then lifted the gas burner ring clear off the thermocouple and gas nozzle.

This left the hob metal surface exposed to reveal the pieces of soot and debris that I lifted with ear buds and slightly damp kitchen roll.

The recess with the gas jet inside is a pig, so I used a flat bladed small screwdriver to scrape gently around the sloping walls of the recess and then cleaned with a combination of the ear bud, kitchen roll screwed to a point, and the screwdriver blade to hook the debris out. Took 2-3 gentle tries to clear the mess, but there was a significant amount of muck and debris to lift.

Then screws back in, burner lid dropped on top and the metal pan holder pushed back into the rubber grommets.

A few nights ago I initially thought thst we had a gas leak but it was the smell of the grey waste coming up through the wastes especially when the wind was gusty. But 2L of cheap Cola into the empty grey tank and a bit of a drive sorted it.

We have had a permanent drain pong each time that we open the grey waste, largely because we have rarely been level/pointing in the right direction to drain fully. We moved from Sa Vicente yesterday to La Bastide, 4 miles or so, but on a road up to Sa Vicente old town via a series of hairpin bends that we had walked along yesterday morning. 1 spoonful of bicarb of soda, plus 5 litres of fresh water poured down the kitchen sink before we set off, and the hairpin sloshing did the rest - well, until I went to move the M/Home and ran the bloody collapsible bucket over ... It will collapse no more, sans handle and part of the side ... 🤭😁

After the recent thread about getting a new towbar install and 13 pin electrics, that reminded me that I have been meaning to get rid of the very annoying 7-pin socket and upgrade to the much more reliable 13 pin version.
And today was the day I got round to making the swapover (y)

I was expecting to use a 7-13 Pin adapter on the Load Carrier that I had already but as the 13 Pin socket kit also came with a 13 Plug included, I decided to rewire the electrics on the Carrier as well as the Motorhome :)

A little bit annoyingly, after I did all the new wiring and plugged in the carrier plug, the LHS indicator didn't work :( As I had redone wiring, I went in and checked the wiring again, got a meter on there, etc. All the usual stuff ... And of course it turned out the indicator bulb on the carrier had become loose so nothing to do with the wiring at all. 🙃
