What did you do to your van today?

Cleaned again (due to work I've been doing) and refitted oven and pipework / cable covers in washroom etc, also refitted seats and carpets.
Just a hand full of things to do now like removing skylights and resealing / checking all roof and fitting new aerial assy, also got to cut and fit worktops for TV area and fit new TV.

Well, I've been dismantling the windscreen scuttle on our ducato in preparation for sealing it properly. The wipers took a while to get off and needed a puller. While I was underneath looking at the condition of the earthing strap, I noticed water dripping from the bottom of the radiator! Oh no, not another b*****y job to do! I traced the leak up the radiator with my phone and found it. The windscreen washer piping that I'd laid across behind the raddiator was draining the washer bottle. Boy, was I happy. :D

Swept the worst of the grit and dust out of the M/home (the poor weather blows the muck in as quickly as we can sweep it out ...), emptied the cassette, topped up with fresh water, bought yet more diesel, and headed out of the damp weather and into the proper 🌧️. The Winter Sun Tour 2025 joins the 1938 Coronation on the list of things that might have been :ROFLMAO:

Removed lower half panels from O/S.
The floor is rotten as a peach all way along up to about 4 or 5" in so stripping all rot out and replacing this week before it spreads to far.
I think a previously leaking shower could of caused it but there have been issues with same motorhomes caused by the design of floor so not sure.
The other side seems untouched.
Quite like a bit of carpentry 🤗.

Dont understand to this day why builders still use wood for floors, my van is the same, but i grp incapsulated the new sections i put in when building it.
There is composite wood lookalike which could be used and will last for years as its a plastic infusion and fire proof.

I have been putting it off since I bought the van in November but today decided that the towbar just HAD to come off. I will never tow with the van and have no intention of adding a bike rack, so... Off it came!
Was not a bad job and the bolts and nuts all unscrewed easily. I have left the 7 pin connector still wired up and tucked away behind the bumper for now. I might keep the towbar as it might be of interest to a prospective buyer at some point in the future? But I might offer it for sale on the bay...
The whole lot came to around 32kg which is a useful addition to my available payload.

So, what did YOU do to your van today?

K ;)
Fitted new reversing camera 😂 video to follw on site.

Cutting out more rot, maybe start fitting new wood tommorow.

Last of the rot removed from inner O/S wheel arch, this is behind shower but was caused by the plastic inner wheel tub having zero sealant around bottom where it joins to floor.
Bag is full of old motor home.
Tommorow the rebuild begins.

Did a bit of prep for the summer and found mouse droppings in the cutlery draw🤬. Searched around and found a few more dropping in other places but they seemed to be confined to the area around the 3way fridge and cupboards. Did a bit of investigation under the van and only hole I found without a mesh was a vent pipe disappearing into the kick space void below the fridge, I'm pretty sure it's a vent pipe for the fridge.
Couldn't find any metal mesh so barred it off with some wire👍

Good job you noticed.

Filled up with LPG at 82p per litre (Shell at Parquesol) and diesel at £1.11 per litre (Gasexpress Palencia), then blew the savings at Mercadona restocking the chocolate and biscuits (including a stash, allegedly for the Santander Ferry next Tuesday ... Reckon it'll be Version 3 of the restock by then ...).

The sterling prices would have been even cheaper, but we are emptying the French Bank Account, which we restocked at €1.1584 in January 2024, so around 4% lower than current exchange rates, but that's old stock that we have ... :ROFLMAO:
