What did you do to your van today?

Started the emptying of all the clothes that had been stored/strewn inside the M/Home whilst the house was being replastered and then redecorated. Also began to gather up all the tools that had been borrowed from the M/Home for the work on the house that I have been doing. Lots of sorting out and tidying up to do over the next 3 days ...

I had a pair of the same model chairs and you did a lot better than me. The fabric on both the ones I had ripped where it meets the frame and became unserviceable within a couple of years. I ended up replacing them with "Alpha Camp" branded chairs from Amazon just over a year ago. These are slightly larger than the Vegas XL's and built like tanks! (->Amazon link<-)

Took the van to Stonehaven to warm it up after the cold spell. Walked the dog and grabbed a coffee and we sat in the van watching the waves for a bit.
Can't really do any camping as swmbo thinks dog is on his last legs but I think he will last a while yet.
So filled the diesel up to the brim and added a bottle of redex , not good to sit with empty tank in winter.

Exciting time with the motorhome today .... checking lights for MOT and found top offside marker not lit! This was on fitting I replaceds in August.
Up ladder and pushed prongs a bit closer for a better connection on bulb. Crisis averted!!

Ever since our Norway trip, we have had a problem with the gearbox. Every time first gear was selected there was a tremendous crunch.
Spent weeks trying to find a company to have a look for me but every time I mentioned Quickshift 6 gearbox, they all lost interest. That was until I spoke to Ross at a company called Reengineered Transmissions. They primarily supply reconditioned gearboxes. In other words, they remove your dodgy gearbox and replace it with a reconditioned one, normally in one day.
Everything sounded ideal until Ross explained that he didn’t have a reconditioned Quickshift 6 on the shelf.
Then he offered to rebuild my gearbox for me, if I was prepared to leave it with them for four to five days.
I drove it down yesterday Tuesday, in time for them to start work at 9am. This morning, Wed,
I received a Phonecall at 11am to say it was all done and ready to be collected.
The company are based at Rayleigh in Essex and can be thoroughly trusted to do a good job, whatever your gearbox type or problem.

Yes, they even gave me the damaged gears back to study when we got home. It was so strange, as you know my Reg is WA56 ### there was another van with the same Reg WA56### that had come in with exactly the same problem!
The only difference was, he had a manual box, whereas mine is semi automatic. They were due to start on his as we left to bring ours home. Talk about coincidence!

I have been putting it off since I bought the van in November but today decided that the towbar just HAD to come off. I will never tow with the van and have no intention of adding a bike rack, so... Off it came!
Was not a bad job and the bolts and nuts all unscrewed easily. I have left the 7 pin connector still wired up and tucked away behind the bumper for now. I might keep the towbar as it might be of interest to a prospective buyer at some point in the future? But I might offer it for sale on the bay...
The whole lot came to around 32kg which is a useful addition to my available payload.

So, what did YOU do to your van today?

K ;)
Swapped out the CDH for a Autoterm heater, amazing heater.

1/2 filled fresh water tank to allow for the 10 litres transfer to the water heater and the bleed of the system to remove airlocks from taps and showers. Packed the van(threw everything in at almost 10pm on 2nd Dec, ready for 3rd Dec a.m. departure. £72.50 diesel top up at Sainsburys, then Asda Oldbury for a further £72.50 top up. 3 months since last refill then just over 100 litres in 10 hours ...
Last leg of 11 miles to the Hagley Bypass A491 HGV layby where I slept like the proverbial log, until the 7 a.m. smell of cooking bacon and burgers from the Burger Van 30ft away woke me!

Drove on to Portsmouth in torrential rain (M40 stopped just before J10 Silverstone because nobody could see through rain and spray) and now at Port Solent, until time to board for 1130pm sailing to Santander. No return date, just need to be back in Scotland by 3rd March to keep house insurance valid
