I knew them skills I got in HM Forces were transferrable - I think mine got lost in transfer! On a point of modern PC order - can we still call them manikins? If they were female are they called ladyikins? I can feel a can of worms coming my way.........Currently (4 years til retirement) working at University as a Technician, within the Technical Resources office of the Health and Wellbeing department, providing / maintaining / purchasing equipment for student teaching / learning.
Prior to this I spent 23yrs in the armed forces, a few years working as a sports instructor / therapist and 8 years as a qualified electrician working in a building firm. My previous experience of sports knowledge and electrical know how got me my current job where we maintain working manikins that can be programmed to emulate clinical conditions in order that the students studying health related and nursing / midwifery can safely practice their skills.
Lovely. Would have liked to have transferred somewhere nice ourselves with the job but grown children living locally kept us in north HertfordshireSunny Cornwall, 20yrs in ?

If you knew as many people who have died in they 50s as I, you'll know why I'm finished at the end of the year age 55.Self employed marine engine sales and service,at 61 i will have 5 years to retirement.
Cannot understand how folk stop at 50 as pension not paid to age 66 ,up to then you are forced to sine on at dole office every fortnight or they would be at your door with a linch mob.
Marry someone older with a pension. ... invest in property that is let out. That’s how I retired at 50. Lucky too, as rents in Bristol are humongous, all to our benefit. And don’t worry too much about the future ... it may not happen!Self employed marine engine sales and service,at 61 i will have 5 years to retirement.
