Win 10 >>> Win 11

Trev, I have over the years and decades used far more operating systems than you have or ever will if you are really interested? And I don't mean just different versions of Microsoft ones either.
But do I go on and on about them? No, because it would be slightly boring to me and EXTREMELY BORING to everyone else.
Its a bit of banter, others seem to have a return bit, ease up or you will blow a fuse, mine has already gone. 😂

It isn't banter, it is tedious and repetitive. Any mention of the word "windows" or "PC" on any forum post and you are in like f***ing flynn with 'Linux this' and 'Linux that'. Who asked about Linux here?
You've got Lirettes! That is like Tourettes but only thing that comes out is "LINUX".

I guess the only option is to use the ignore option to avoid it but that is a bit of a sledgehammer to crack your nut, but gotta do what you gotta do :(

I put him on ignore ages ago, I like the bloke a lot but Like David says it's almost always the same post with variations.

My 2012 13" MacBook Pro had started to get temperamental, I think it is the battery swelled and needs replacing again.
Something that should be done with Laptops (and many other devices) is not to leave them plugged in all the time and unplug overnight preferably.
Some newer laptops have built-in protection and cut the power to the battery from the charger when full but most don't and the LiPo Battery they use will swell just as you say.
Battery swells up, pushes against internals and depending on the layout will cause different damage to the machine. My HP Laptop still worked after the battery did this but the keyboard bulged out and the bottom casing cracked. Replaced battery but that was only ok for maybe a year and now only works from mains. Replaced with a new-to-me Microsoft Surface Book (which is very very nice :) ) .

I decided instead to treat myself to a mint condition 2019 16" MacBook Pro for the princely sum of £500. Had it a couple of weeks now and still not used to the amount of stuff on screen. Its not just its bigger but resolution is so much greater, I am running apps on quarter of the screen and still see more.
The screen resolution on these newer higher spec machines is incredible, isn't it? I've gone from 1980 x 1024 to 3000 x 2000, which on a 13.5" screen is insane!

I hadn't realised there was a quad core I9 either until I bought it lol

The higher resolution is one of those things which kind of creeps up on you and you don't realise until you go back down again, if that makes sense?

Difference between 1980 x 1080 and 3000 x 2000 is around 3 times the resolution I think doing the maths off-hand?

My 'checklist' of requirements gets updated all the time as find better features I never thought much about before :)

When I have tried that it seems to make the display a bit dull? maybe give that another go on the new laptop?
Yes it does, you'd think less blue would brighten it, you can do it via the colour correction thingy??? ours tends to go more towards red.

My home PC is an 'all in one' with a 24" touchscreen, I can use it without wearing glasses but on my 17" laptop I have to wear reading glasses.
It isn't just the screen resolution being better though, I can't believe how fast it is, it has 32gb RAM which helps, I use ccleaner to keep my laptops running smooth but they can't compare

I remember when I got a new works laptop - new model went from 1024 res compared to the old one which was 800 res. both 14" screens but had to get a pair of glasses to use it :)
Just got a new-to-me office PC to replace the old HP PC that was starting to be a pain and noisy. Came with 16GB of RAM and I bought another 16GB of RAM from Amazon. Definitely a worthwhile upgrade at £15 :)

This old nail just keeps rolling along, it's fast enough even though I watch a lot of streaming videos on Netflix & Prime + YouTube.

No rocket ship by any means maybe when it was new.

Just to correct my post about my new laptop, it isn't a quad core, it's an eight core. When did that happen???

I think I only have a one core.

I feel deprived now

Confused (again)

Davids says 8 core
Terrys says 4 core
