What did you do to your van today?

fixed the fridge door as was not closing correctly tomorrow i will adjust the handbrake deep joy

Finally got round to dismantling the awning again and fitting the new housing, so note to self, mustn’t scrape along anymore trees ??

Got it MOTd - not entirely successful as their jack rated at 3T wouldn't lift the back end fully off the ramp!
A bit of a shame as I wanted to grease the Alko axle.
Anyway I got a pass as the same guy tested it last year and it's not done a lot of miles.

Fitting flooring & drainage etc ready to install shower. Could do with it in & on cold - working in these temps a bit much. Thermometer reading at 46 in the van. Whew!!

Filled up with water, food, clothing and all the odds and sods I always take. Lakes tonight, Dalwhinnie tomoss night then onto Mellon Udrigle for 3/4 nights. After that who knows ? Probs Applecross then onto Skye to visit friends. Not sure how long I will be away, being retired I can please myself lol.

Changed the engine oil, oil filter and air filter. Fitted new sump plug and washer. Checked gearbox oil level.
Well to be exact...I paid the guy at the local garage to do it.
Gone are the days of do it yourself.

I dismantled the broken offside door mirror and found that I don't need a full replacement as the main body is ok apart from where it connects to the upper swivel joint. So, I have now ordered from eBay, a new outer case, an indicator reflector assembly and a heated mirror glass. Should have the whole lot in a couple of days. Total cost less than £27 which is half the cost of a pattern replacement.

The broken bit is now glued and fixed with some screws so doesn't move.

I can't wait for the bits so I can finish the job off

1. Went and got rid of all the squished insects off the front of the MH - payload now increased by 10kg!
2. Fixed 2 wooden sole plates to freelance steps to stop the legs digging into the grass - payload now decreased by 8kg
3.Put the laundered bedding away after last trip to Skegness - payload now back to previous level!
4. Realised it's so much easier to maintain the MH by doing the little jobs as they
come up rather than making a big list then trying to do them all on the same day!

I have been putting it off since I bought the van in November but today decided that the towbar just HAD to come off. I will never tow with the van and have no intention of adding a bike rack, so... Off it came!
Was not a bad job and the bolts and nuts all unscrewed easily. I have left the 7 pin connector still wired up and tucked away behind the bumper for now. I might keep the towbar as it might be of interest to a prospective buyer at some point in the future? But I might offer it for sale on the bay...
The whole lot came to around 32kg which is a useful addition to my available payload.

So, what did YOU do to your van today?

New radio and reversing camera

Took it to a service chap to see if he could get the fridge working on gas. He had a bit of a poke about in the flue. It now appears to be cooling down ok. Off to Edinburgh for the festivals on Friday and then Druridge.

All parts for drivers door mirror arrived and fitted. A bit fiddly aligning indicator lens screw holes but ok in the end. Looks good.
