What did you do to your van today?

Been the same here not off until Wednesday so don’t want everything done too quick cos if the vans sitting ready to go it’ll make the next few days drag so leaving a few bits n bobs to do over the next few days. Had a major fright earlier the main lock on door started playing up but got a can of lubricant and gently worked away at it and it’s working better than ever so wee tip go round all your locks and hinges give them a wee squirt especially if it’s been laid up for months.

Made the bed filled with water had to change the double din radio in the dash as it stopped working , good job I had a spare one that I got for one of our previous vans but never fitted it , clothes going in tomorrow then food on Wednesday , then off for a few days of relaxing

The flush in the Moho toilet has been somewhat intermittent for a while now. I hate putting effort into finding and apparently fixing a fault only for it to reappear a few weeks later, but I guess that's a feature of intermittent faults. So a new pump and switch has been fitted (a fiddly job in the confines of a shower room!).
Out of interest this morning I've spent some time investigating the old pump and switch. The pump seems absolutely fine but the switch was operating intermittently - something that rarely happens on a work bench when you want it to! I managed to strip the switch down to the microswitch contacts, gave them a clean, recabled the assembly, reassembled - and it's no longer an intermittent switch!
So I have a spare pump and a spare switch in the tool box.
I'm happy.

Colin 🙂🙂🙂

While it’s great to know the things that should work, do in fact work. I rarely use the flush. Why fill the cassette quicker than obsoletely necessary. I use a spray bottle, probably ex Flash, filled with a diluted a Zaflora solution. Once cleaned of any debris (?), a quick spray, every thing smell sweeter. Well, almost.

I do something similar, Del - but when I choose to use the electric flush I want it to work in a predictable fashion!

So you can now sh-t in the tool box, very handy.😂😂😂

I ordered some bits and pieces, including new dust shields from Tyrepal and fitted those to the van.

Took our van to the not so local Fiat dealer for it’s two year service. Lots of pennies later given a clear bill of health. Will start loading it back up tomorrow for our trip this weekend.

Took the van to Kirkcaravan services Lanark yesterday. Drove 8 miles there for them to fix a leaking roof seal. Got my ebike out of the garage and cycled home. 14 mile cycle to avoid the manic A73 traffic by using little local side roads.

Me? Lycra? Don't be silly. I'm one of these no idea people -so all the gear would be over the top. I had my mad old woman on a bicycle look. Hi - Viz with flashing light on the back. Wet weather gear trousers with florescent nicky tams to stop them flapping. Good job nobody took a picture - I hope. Meg

Replaced the Aircon on the roof. The old one was an Electrolux Blizzard 1300. Worked well enough, but not powerful enough for the size.

I'd bought a Domestic Freshjet 2200 but the problem was access to the roof when carrying a 30KG Aircon.

Turned out that a friend has a 9' wall next to his drive, with only a 2' step up from the ground behind it (there are benefits from living in the hills).

The biggest part of the job turned out to be cleaning all the grot that had collected under the old Aircon, but even that was pretty easy.

The new one is all done and dusted.

All I need to do now is find a home for the old one. Seems a shame to scrap it: there's nothing wrong with it, apart from not being powerful enough for that size of motorhome.

Cleaned out the inside after my week in the lakes, now all ready for a 2 week trip up to the west coast of Scotland next weekend. Skye, Mellon Udrigle if it’s open and where ever else takes my fancy.
Intend fitting a circuit breaker I’ve had lying around for 3 weeks between solar panels and Victron controller tomoss.

Slept in it for the first time in ages.

Left all the window blinds open to savour the darkness.

Had a large glass of Port to celebrate. (y)
