What did you do to your van today?

I have a Dalwhinnie Winters Gold Whisky that they recommend keeping in the freezer. Its very good but you have to drink it quick before it warms up... hic!... honesshhtly

Is there not a danger that the alcohol will separate and possibly risk your health?

Hi all. Never heard of it separating in a freezer. It used to be quite common in Germany in the 60s. 70s. Put the bottle in the freezer. When you drink a shot it warms up as it goes down your throat. When it reaches your stomach it explodes the taste back. Lovely. Vodka corn asbach Bacardi. Mmmmmmm. Brian

Moved van from field round to beside our garage so I can start preparing it for a few days away at the end of the week. Our builder asked if I could move it a bit as he has arranged for a skip to be delivered tomorrow to put all our old bathroom stuff in it. So moved it to right beside the house out of the way. BT Openreach then turn up to say they are hoping to start work on repairing our overhead cable tomorrow so would I mind moving the van a bit.
So van is now back in the field! I’ll try again later in the week.

Just fitted rear air assist suspension, bought a kit of bags and brackets £245 that came with a single fill point to use your own pump ,I wanted independent control over both sides so I've added some solenoid valves, switches and an onboard compressor. The picture shows the 2 gauges and switches..( n/s gauge = n/s suspension o/s gauge = o/s suspension,Top switch n/s OR o/s up bottom switch n/s Or o/s down)

Our Dometic backup camera keeps misting up, so I have taken it apart and dried it out three times, last time sealed the cable entry point again. Two days later, it appeared to mist up again, so, as we are away and I rely on the camera, I thought I’d forget that camera and order a Garmin back up camera to link to my sat nav.
So camera ordered and it arrives today.
But, yesterday, we went out in the van and the rear view camera image is perfectly clear. I must have cured the water ingress!
Still, two backup cameras can’t be bad!

I have been putting it off since I bought the van in November but today decided that the towbar just HAD to come off. I will never tow with the van and have no intention of adding a bike rack, so... Off it came!
Was not a bad job and the bolts and nuts all unscrewed easily. I have left the 7 pin connector still wired up and tucked away behind the bumper for now. I might keep the towbar as it might be of interest to a prospective buyer at some point in the future? But I might offer it for sale on the bay...
The whole lot came to around 32kg which is a useful addition to my available payload.

So, what did YOU do to your van today?

K ;)
I am looking for a run underbar (rear bumper) to fit a bessacar e572 on an Al-Ko chassis, do you think this would fit if you are selling

What were you sealing it with? My van had a really rubbish camera fitted when I bought it. Wasn't a cheap one, either.
The installer had used silicone sealant, so it had let water in. Not enough to do any damage, but definitely not sealed.
I replaced it with a far better image quality camera and made sure that the cable looped down, so that it entered the camera and the vehicle upwards.
I sealed with non-setting butyl sealant and there has been no trouble with water ingress.
Keep meaning to replace the camera, though, because the IR LEDs are behind the same glass cover as the lens, so it lights up the dirt, not the scene.

The cable from the camera goes into a panel fixed to the back of the van, I am assuming water behind the panel and is either getting into the cable joint there or into the back of the camera housing where the cable comes in.
Anyway, I tipped the housing up so the cable entry point was at the bottom and poured some epoxy resin into the housing and over the cable end and around the cable sheath.
Like you, I made sure the cable loops down between the panel and camera.
It’s a good quality camera and it’s still under warranty, but I need it working now so didn’t want to wait for the dealer to fix it.
When we get home, I’ll take the bracket off and pull the cable to see if I can locate the joint and ensure it’s sealed.

I must be bored, I cleaned the roof on the van.
I know it's sad but at least I didn't polish it, so it's not shiny.
😀😁😀

Hmm. I'd have said that if you polish the roof, it'll stay clean for longer. But we polished ours in June and it's gone green now.
We normally use Wet and Forget but didn't bother this time. It's well named: it made me forget how fast the green arrives without using it.

Filled the water up,filled fresh tank we keep in van ,put on hook up swmbo will attend to all else so when I get home tomorrow ,it's ,shower shave ,shi£ then off for the weekend southwards
