What did you do to your van today?

Just done engine service .
Oil filter air diesel coolant top up power steering top up .
Ready for another 15k miles .
 
I tried to grease my Alko axle at MoT last week but his 3T jack couldn't lift my 2T axle!!
Perhaps it was low on oil and the travel required is pretty big?
I got some grease in but it wasn't unloaded.
 
Washed it after driving home from Loch Katrine yesterday. We had to take several diversions along very wet and muddy country lanes to avoid the floods on the main roads so the van ended up filthy.
 
Went for its MOT test yesterday. Driving home, I realised that they hadn't done an exhaust emissions test.
Has that been removed from MOT tests? The ministry monitor the test in real time, so I can't see how they could have got away with forgetting to do it.
 
Sat august 15 ,after the van lay up during movement ban we headed down south ,headed in Kendall and going down the Shap in mental weather (rain) the abs light came on and stayed on to Hereford ,JEFFMOSSY kindly brought his launch diag machine which I read the ecu and found the fault recorded was the abs module ,this is a part that is on the abs pump £1200 for a pump module I think is around £150 ish if you can get one
so yesterday got into it plugged in computer read the fault again (same ) so removed plug cleaned up all pins and terminals .fluffed around for a bit and rebuilt it .ign on computer coupled cleared all faults stored and took it a extended run .no abs malfunction and read the ecu when got back home all good
so think it was crud build up with it lying dormant
£££££££s saved so new discs and pads all round in two weekends time with brake fluid change
Also got all new filters and oil change getting done courtesy o me sons as I'm too fat for this guff nowadays but still wise enough to issue my experience to them which I am happy to say is often asked as to what my thoughts are on certain issues they may get 😀😀😀auld dog n that
so please don't just buy something have a wee nosey aboot first as it can save you loads o dosh

Yesterday, with the help of new member Earbymick, the water tank went back in. Him, in the van holding the tank steady, me underneath pulling the hose through. The idea worked well, unusually. Now, any one want to buy 800cm of 25mm hose?😉
Tomorrow. Leaving Hollingworth a day early so I can build a new battery box and fit the new batteries. The old one’s, normally 60ahs usable, we’re giving a massive 7.8.
Carbon lead agm’s are the replacements. Should see me out.
I’d best rephrase that. Hopefully, I’d not have to replace my leisure batteries again, for a v e r y long time 😙
 
Glue pot out this morning, noticed the trim was coming away from the cut end on one of the kitchen units. I could not get in with the iron as the sliding door sits proud so had to remove that first. Then discovered something had been spilt on the lower runner which was in a rusty mess may have been vinegar or something caustic by the previous owner. Removed the slide wire brush and paint, the iron would not melt the glue on the trim so used some o thone monkey glue and taped into position. Seeing as the glue was out i fixed the trim on one of the selves in the locker cupboards as well. That was after fixing the rear lights on Friday.20200816_100705.jpg20200816_100714.jpg

Emptied the van, laid out the silver screen as a little damp. Brought it back in after rain storm....in spare bedroom now, really wet! Picked up flat pack shed for my M.I.L
so will be travelling down to Kent at weekend ish!
 
Cleaned mould off top and underside of wind out awning that we seldom use!!!
Off to party with 18 month old grandson for W/e on Wednesday!!!!!

Removed some more items that have never been used, why I carried 3 ehu cables is beyond me lol. Also cut and fitted some more anti slip matting.
 
Drove from Norfolk to Folkestone yesterday afternoon, then from Wissant to somewhere in the country near to Lisieux this morning. Saw lots of UK reg vans heading North on our way here.
When we got off the Eurutunnel train, we had to turn left instead of right, (which normally would have taken us onto the main road out) but instead, we spent about 20 minutes negotiating narrow lanes and chicanes, past customs inspection points and large lorry and other vehicle car parks before exiting onto the A16. If this is going to be the new route from the tunnel next year via customs, I envisage lengthy delays, especially for freight...
 
If you have time, there's an interesting 1929-1954 Basilica at Lisieux, dedicated to St Therese. I parked very easily on the dedicated motorhome parking bays.

I found the Basilica's decorated interior dome quite breathtaking, and Therese short life rather poignant.

Was there a reason for having to turn left and not right off of the train?. Just asking as we will be doing the trip in a few weeks.

I don't think the emissions and brake test machines are connected to DVSA.
In essence only the start and finish times are monitored - the assumption being that all the time in between is spent testing and-over fixing.
When I had mine done the tester completed everything except the brakes and left me working on my rear axle - when I'd finished he did them filled in the results and printed the certificate.
I've been told in the past that DVSA keep an eye on fastest and average times and having a high proportion of motorbikes can affect that.

If you do get real abs problems the ecu can often be repaired at much lower cost than whole unit replacement.
I've no relationship with ecutesting.com who seem to get very good reviews on car forums.

The signs told you to turn left, the large gates to the right that you usually drive through were closed Not sure if this is permanent but the road we drove out on and all the buildings looked brand new and designed for freight. Maybe they are redeveloping the other exit too. Perhaps you can update us of any changes when you go. We will be going back to the UK for a week in October too
