What did you do to your van today?

Installed the new security camera this afternoon 👮‍♂️
Got on Amazon on a Prime Day Deal and seems pretty good. Motion detection and saves video to the cloud so will have a good capture of anyone coming in the door ;)

You can also hear sound and talk to the camera, so say nice greetings such as "Get out my motorhome, you *&$%£^$^** **%&$&" :D

This might be of interest ...
The first picture was taken during the day, so normal daylight.
This next one is from just after midnight so no lights on anywhere ....

Pretty impressed with that I have to say :)

Booked it in to the garage for next Thursday as the engine management light is on. No impact on performance though so fingers crossed it’s nothing serious.

I had to fix the switch on the under cupboard lights above the sink.
I took i out the switch to find it broken.
Wondering where to get a new one went on Amazon, to find lots but not many with measurements.
So being at Hereford I decided to ask around to see if anyone had any spares, kicking around in boxes, as we all carry odd bits just incase.
Phil came up with a suitable one and a drill and step drill to enlarge the hole.
What a great comunity, theres always someone willing to help.
The switch is replaced and I can now see to wash up .
Thanks Phil👍

Emptied remainder of food from fridge, removed empty wine bottle(!).
Swept and washed floor...where does the mud and crushed leaves come from?
Collected all the stuff to be washed. Topped up clothes to replace those worn....you have to be ready to go!

Now that in N. Ireland we have a 4 week lockdown it seems that trips will stop with the exception of day runs to maintain sanity and keep the wheels turning. Today I fitted the fridge winter vents, not because of the temperature but to reduce the potential for horizontal rain getting in and reduce insect access.

Would you suggest using these anyway over the cooler months?

This reply brought to mind the rules in Guernsey. My son lives in Guernsey and has a pal who has a large motorhome over there and if he wants to move it he has to get a police escort and he can only take it to the port to take a ferry. The only exception to this is that between 6 and 7am on a Sunday morning he can take it to a specific road and drive it around for the purposes of “engine management”

Wildebus,

I tend to use them more for reducing wet penetration and bugs as said. We have a fairly temperate climate and so probably don’t get too much weather at under 8 c which is the temperature recommended for fitting. I doubt we would be overnighting much in those low figures, though we do the odd single overnight.

They allegedly come into their own in sub 8c temperatures because the low temperatures stop the flame from creating a sufficient heat to allow the heat exchanger to do its job satisfactory. This is of course for absorption fridges and not compressor fridges.

This link explains their use.

So two uses, problem is they are expensive, although you can make your own quite cheaply. If you intend to use your van through winter make sure you cut some ventilation to safely use the fridge. If purely for storage them fully blanked off plates would be grand.

I am also trying to source one of these locally £6 but postage nearly doubles the cost.

This would be to cover the heater exhaust gas vent on the exterior wall to stop insect hibernation.

Now the sun is going thought I would check L B , solar struggling to keep up as the van is completely in the shade . Until April.

Seen a lot of people talking about mirror protectors on their Ducatos and seemed like a good idea (my mirrors have already been damaged at some time and I think replaced in the past).
Bought and fitted the Millenco branded ones. Bit of a struggle getting the drivers side one on and not 100% happy with it (thinking bit too much reliance on two little screws to keep in place) but I think they certainly do a good job of making the mirrors more obvious to oncoming vehicles!
