What did you do to your van today?

Also dug my old Knackered Henry hoover out of the shed. Threw it in there 2 yrs ago after my boy blew it up in his bedroom. Long story short, plugged it in to try it & it works! Double bonus is the new inverter seems happy running it.

Just cleaning out the expansion tank to refit and something was rattling inside. After much shaking and much more swearing out popped the bottom end of an old cap. It had obviously broken off and replaced by a previous owner which I now believe has been the cause of all my overheating problems all along, grrrrrrr!!!

A gammet of jobs done over past few weeks, after my week in Islay and week in Ireland. NEW rebuilt, recalibrated, revamped Solex carburettor re-installed replacing the 1.6 webber. Very pleased with the job that 'Carburettor exchange' did on this old one for me it looks like brand new on its return. (second one with them at the moment) Also checked the tappits, all ok. Installed new blind inside, installed inverter and removed broken clips' on the rooflights to be 3d printed just awaiting their return any day now! still got a few jobs to do rooflights to check / replace. some pipes in the engine bay to replace the soft leaky ones, and a water leak to trace and sort on the small pipe at rhs of engine block. But all good no major issues.

Removed interior habitation door lock to gain access to exterior handle as a spring had gone. In typical Hymer fashion removing the inside handle gives access to all but 2 of the external handle fixing screws. To get to the other 2 means removing the habitation door skin or drilling holes in it!! So managed to fix the problem with an elastic band rather than dismantling the door. At least we can now open the door from the outside again rather than having to get in through the cab. Interesting to see how long the elastic band lasts for.

On arriving home from the Orkney do, a squeak was heard from the engine bay ah ah I thought alternator half a day to get it off got it tested no not that lets try the water pump I thought, a day to get that one off YES bearing just starting to go, In doing all this put a small nick in CV boot well that's not coming off sticky plaster will do that job.
DONT any one ask me to do those jobs for them, You won't like the answer lol
