Italian Gadabout

We carry a similar machine with us Rog, called a G3 Ferrari. https://www.g3ferrari.net/en/delizia-red.html

I make my own pizza dough and freeze it in suitable sizes for rolling out and using whilst away in the MH. it does liven up the weekly menu a bit. If you want to get adventurous when you get home Rog I'm happy to share my dough recipe.
I will definitely take you up on that Graham.

Hello Phil,
Sorry to hear you’re not feeling your greatest at the moment.
We don’t bother with EHU either, this little beauty can be run using the invertor, obviously not on full power, but we have found that by using the heat setting 3 out of a possible 5, not only does it cook fabulously it doesn’t affect the lithium batteries at all. It’s a bit like having free power.
Hope you get sorted really soon, fingers crossed for you. xx

You're about to enter the road into the Gargano Peninsula, which I loved.

It's your choice, but I would avoid Foggia at all costs. I became lost inside the town over 50 years ago, and only recovered by using the sun. I was angry with myself, as I normally have an excellent sense of direction, and my ex-fiance was clearly less than impressed. 😄

Probably the last comments from me: the Amalfi Coast is beautiful, especially with the sun glistening off the brilliant blue Mediterranean Sea. However, even if motorhomes weren't banned (until 10pm) I would advise not driving round it.

"Everyone" says take the bus and go anticlockwise (Sorrento to Salerno via Positano and Minori: we had a hire car and drove clockwise! I heaved one of the biggest sighs of my life when we approached Sorrento. A friend, a renowned petrolhead, took his hire car back after 2 hours, losing almost 3 days fees.

Italian drivers have a reputation for aggressive behaviour and the youngsters on scooters were an absolute menace. The road was narrow in places, with tight bends: at one point a blaring of air horns made me slam on the brakes and a bus hurtled round the corner (virtually on two wheels). By being on the "land" side we also had to cope with door steps protruding into the roadway, with the possibility of someone stepping out of the door. Parking was almost non-existent.

Was it worth seeing? Yes.
Was it worth the stress? Probably not.
Take the bus!

Gordon

What Norfolk Newboy said, except with one difference.

We took the bus and in spite of our drivers local knowledge on the day we travelled he was involved in a crash. It must be very common and simply isn't worth it.

A good many miles further north, and on a motorway, the driver in front of me thought it perfectly acceptable to brake to a standstill in the middle lane and reverse back towards me because he had missed his turn off. 🫣

Lovely people, bonkers motorists, and I was so pleased to return to France.

Sorry.

I think you have raced past the lush Gargano Peninsula, and are now at the Via Cadore Costa quite near to the Trulli church of St Antonio. If so, I recommend you use the automatic 'SOS Automatic Cleaner'. Your loo will never have smelled so fresh.

For the best overview of the Trulli houses there is only one place, and that is from The Belvedere at the top of the steps adjacent the Church of Saint Lucia in Piazza Plebiscite. There are some descent restaurants above in Corso Vittorio Emanuele. The reason I know this is because an old pal of mine owns a really swish Trulli on the edge of town, and that's where he eats. ;)

You are certainly flying, and if you choose to cut out the pretty holiday town of Santa Maria di Leuca, then I do strongly recommend the cave homes of Sasso Caveoso District in the town of Matera. You won't regret it.

Then possibly go and stand where Pythagorus lived near the Temple of Hera at Tavole Palatine in Metapontum.

Our main problem is that neither of us can walk very far now, our hips are coming up to their Best Before Date and so we just tend to look, rather than approach.
However, we are still having a nice time, and many thanks for all suggestions, they are truly appreciated, even though we can’t always follow up on them.

We tend to do a lot of looking rather than doing these days too Rog. Mrs GMJ isn't able to get up castle towers and ramparts etc so I ted to scale those and take lots of photos to show her. we know we pass by lots of paces worthy of a stop however adding those extra hours to the day tends to knacker the Mrs out so we figure that we'll just see them the next time we are passing.
