Traveller problem. What would you do ?

If people started taking pictures of my property and posting on website I wouldn’t be best pleased. I am struggling to get beyond the fact the op doesn’t seem to like travellers is / was there any need to mention their ethnicity? How does being travellers assuming they are, have any relevance to an animals welfare?

Can I request this thread is locked and closed or better still removed.

Live and let live.

The headline is Traveller Prblem. What problem?
They are stopping on a caravan pitch, with a caravan. As others have stated, there doesnt appear to be any mess around the van. The big issue seems to be this dog. Yes, thats a problem if it really is being locked in the van 16hrs a day? However, to have noticed this, one must assume this has not just been one day, but several? If you are concerned for the animals welfair, contact RSPCA.

I do take exception to one comment about 'trouble this lot cause'?
I thought as a society we'd managed to stamp out bigotted generalised statements like this!!

I've regularly stayed on a site (C and C club) that had several travelers pitched on it....
And they were less of an issue than some of the other occupants with their ferral kids....

They were always friendly and fascinating to talk to...
Kids well behaved and the area around their pitches was kept immaculate.

There as ever are good folks and bad folks in all walks of life...

Very easy to judge when you pigeon hole people.
My mother and farther in law stay on a small camp site which a group of travellers spend some months on this campsite (Just 2 familes) they love talking with them they are
lovely people but when it comes to animals it's a different thing I don't think they know what's cruel and what's not Jeff's mum always have tales to tell on all the resue's the different campers have performed i blame the camp site owners when they know this is a touchy subject with animal lovers

I think you have confused with not MOT'd.

The statement was OFTEN cause.

If you don't agree with that then you are deluded.

Even IF not motd..... The insurance company have a legal duty to maintain 3rd party cover (and the will go after folks legal wise)

No mot is a none endorsed offence.

Agreed, but you'll not be making a claim yourself. I am pretty sure vehicle tax makes no odds though, would you agree? As that's the issue here..

If it was you Trev this thread would be classed as racist and removed
True but im never offended and dont give a fa-t, yes i get what you are saying, but these days i think folk are out looking for a wrong doing even by mistake, just look at MP,S of tv stars who make a slip.

We are on a camping and caravan cs in Lincolnshire .
The owners have let traveller family on the site because they said they have membership.unlikely.
I have expressed my concerns to owners
Owners are unwilling now to challenge them to leave obviously because of reprisals .
We are animal lovers and they have a dog locked in transit van for about 16 hours even though he said they had no dog.
It's a brilliant site and we really needed this break.
Should we go when we've done nothing wrong?

You will probably feel more comfortable on a Caravan club site. However make sure your door is on the correct side and you reverse the corner of your van up to the post.

One winter on the way to Spain, we pulled onto the Aire at St Maurie de Touraine, and it was full of Gypsies. We stayed the night and had a very peaceful night. In the morning I went for water on which they had fixed a stand pipe with hoses going all over the place. They were out right sharpish to help me including carrying the water for me. We have also stayed with Dutch Gypsy's on the old aire at Brugge where I was invited to have a look in their vans, which were absolutely amazing. I try to treat people with respect and hope that they will reciprocate. So I prefer to live and let live.

Not been able to get internet for a while to respond . But after a few more days.
Their dog is left up to 17 hours a day in back of transit . He's told owners of site he hasn't got a dog !
Toilets are left in a mess after they've been in them.
They empty toileting bucket into shower tray
He told owners he isn't working, don't know why he leaves early morning in his van after he's revved it up for 15 minutes. They told him specifcally no working from site.

They shout and argue every day after the evening drinks....proper shouting.!
Smoke in toilets and shower.

Owners are understandably frightened to tell them to go because of reprisals. And are just hoping they leave on Tuesday with no fuss.
They've asked is not to leave as we are witnesses to their behaviour.
They are going to exclude vans of certain length and size in the future.

To state... I am definitely not racist and take great offence at accusations that I am.

If your original post had contained the above information, you could possibly have got a different response. Your original missive didn't show you in a particularly positive light. If they are behaving in the above manner then that is another issue, still don't see the relevance of the untaxed van tho...

I feel sorry for the position you have been put in. I know my Wife would have been banging on their door about the dog situation.

As for the situation regarding his vehicle, I suppose none of the critics have ever been hit by the driver of an uninsured vehicle. It is common enough for travellers not to bother with road tax, MOT's or insurance, especially the Irish variety.

Well, that'll be me banned now then. :(
