Running repair completed but, as usual, the 3 minute job took a lot longer, because of damaged screwheads, earlier attempt [not by me, honest!] to cure the leak by using 1/2 a tube of mastic, and difficulty in reaching the errant fitting whilst stopping the tools being blown off the roof. I've gone 'belt & braces' by applying a bed of food grade silicone grease for the plastic fixing to sit on and also applied grease to the screw thread to reduce the strain that resulted in the original screwhead 'camming out'. Then ran a bead of the grease around the joint where the fixing meets the roofing sheet. The grease is used in bakeries and has a temperature range way beyond the Scottish weather, and is claimed to be waterproof, so fingers crossed that it doesn't get washed away!4 degrees, gusting wind, sunshine and showers and snow forecast for later. We seem to have missed out on the plague and pestilence, so we can't claim a Full House, so we'll settle for a season's best.
Need to make a running repair to the Sun Lounge roof where the driving rain has penetrated a screw in roof panel seal. It's more or less dead centre, so a PITA to reach. It's a 3 minute job [as long as the old screw doesn't snap], but ladder access and crawling board set up makes it 1/2 hour minimum!
