What did you do to your van today?

Put back the water containers we had to use when no cold water in the barn! Filled some large containers once pipes had defrosted but of course, once prepared, it is unlikely to happen again!
Washed the floors and replaced the bed panels, we collected lots of logs from a neighbours land after he had taken the largest, let us have the leftovers. Carrying them in the van left a fair mess but easily cleaned up. Another tick for being able to completely remove the centre of the fixed bed, able to carry 4m lengths of eucalyptus ;)
 
As I am switching from Clarence, my Daktari Campervan to Little My the Motorhome, I am going to miss the Zebra theme :(

So decided to experiment and made myself a mug as a little reminder :)

Started all vehicles in the drive way and put heating on in van
radiator comes on in van by way of a timer
 
Changed all 4 of my crystal damp absorbing bags and ran a 500w heater for six hrs today, s panels had the batterys charging at 14.2 for a few hrs around midday, no resting at 12.9v and starter batt at 12.8. :)
 
Today I did nothing, except look at the thousands of photos and leaflets of places we've visited around Europe.

This time next year.......😊

Apparently idling an engine from cold not good practice and it has been mentioned numerous times on the forum it can glaze the cylinder bores.
I’m sure someone with far more knowledge than yours truely will be along shortly to fully explain.
Its the first time in a month I have started it as presently sorned. I also moved it on the drive to ensure the tyres were in a different contact position when i parked it up, something to do with deforming the tyres if left to long in one position.
 
Hi all. Took the Moho out. Did about 60 miles round folkestone Dover. First run it's had for a while. Took dogs for nice walk. Things should now be fully charged. Run in. Settled. Ready for another period of sitting on drive. Thought about starting to do this once a week. But then heard on news that two women have been fined for travelling 5 miles to a local spot to go for a walk. Police stopped them. And said that they were not allowed. Even told one woman the takeaway coffee she had constituted a picnic and that was a definite no no. So I think I will let it sit on drive. Cannot understand that you can by a coffee etc. Or takeaway but if you eat it out(not at home) it's a picnic. This happened Derbyshire area. Think that was a bit over zealous policeman. Agree things need to tighten up. But I think it should be explained more Brian.
 
Put the heater on low in the motorhome. I'll be checking later to see if I need to turned up the heat slightly. Running at 20p an hour.Overnight temps may be as low as -4°. As you from north of the border might say "It's gonna be chilly around the willy"

I think the Derbyshire thing is a bit daft and that particular Police'Service' has a reputation for being, well, basically stupid. Those fines will be cancelled now after their CC has had new 'guidence'.

However, I would say 60 miles in the MH might be a bit too much (seriously). Whilst safe in your own environment inside it, I would be concerned about consequences if you have any problems - accident, breakdown, whatever.
I think some regular use is not a bad idea and will likely do the same thing with mine, but by using it instead of the car for when need to do some shopping, so when the journey would be taken anyway (so no increased risk over what was going to happen anyway).
May seem an extreme attitude but personally the last thing I would want to do is pay a trip to A&E right now for any reason. Being risk-averse is boring but sensible right now (which is also why going out on a Bike - powered or not - is one to avoid this time of year!)
 
Followed a lead from others on here and put the ehu on a timer switch for 4hrs during the night as the coldest weather has gone for now.

I am sure you've been careful enough to make sure the white roof ladder doesn't obscure the rear lights. 😉
 
Thanks for that link. I didn't realise he'd posted a previous build on Wildies.

Got to say, he's got a real talent for the exterior finish that looks superb.

It also makes me feel better so see that his garage looked as busy as mine, whilst I built my kit car. 🤣

I hope he chooses to post photos of the completed interior.
