What did you do to your van today?

Took the van to be weighed.
I recently changed my U.K. driving licence for a French licence, and found out that they don’t transfer grandfather rights C1 category, so, I can’t drive the van as it’s 3850kg!
But, when we bought it new, it was 3500kg ( I had it upgraded) so I have to revert it back to 3500kg, which is a long drawn out and ( for me) complicated process here in France.
I filled in the application on line, now after weighing the van ( it has to be completely empty and came in at 3060kg) I have to send a file in to our local DREAL ( sort of DVLA equivalent) then wait to be invited to take the van along to them to check.
Should be over by Christmas and at least I’ll be able to remove the Angles Morts and speed limit stickers!

That must have been a shock, and I wonder how many other expatriates cope?

For your good self, it sounds like a great result, and I'm pleased for you. 👍

Or £48 for the MOT ... And the chance to reduce the per mile depreciation cost by using the M/Home regularly to put some mileage on the clock!

Steve
I wonder who has the highest mileage Motorhome here (that stated as a MH rather than a high-miler commercial conversion)?
I would not be surprised if mine was up there (not that it was me who put the miles on it, sadly).

Ours goes in fits and starts. David. 9687 miles since buying it on 20 Apr 2021, but less than 50 miles since you fitted the inverter on 28th September! But, assuming we get away early in January, we'll put around 4,000 miles on the clock in 10-12 weeks. My cost per mile, allowing for 2 years' depreciation, all repairs/servicing/upgrade costs, diesel and lpg, VED, insurance and finance costs, is still just over £3 per mile so the extra mileage will drop the per mile cost substantially.

The delayed start to the Winter Trip has saved money by deferring Travel Insurance and European Breakdown Insurance and other odds 'n ends, so we made another lump sum payment off the M/Home Finance. 20 months since buying it, and we're now 16 months ahead of the original repayment plan

Ivs had my BF Goodrich all terain tyres for 3 years now and have never driven on snow with them so as we have about 3in of the stuff i had to give it a try and i am well pleased.Plenty of feed back on the stearing and you can brake quite hard with out it sliding.
Ps Chis has a skoda yeti 4x4 and i put her snow tyres on this year and all i can say is they are superb in the snow.

MOT pass this morning with advisories for worn front tyres and offside brake pads. Happy with that as I knew tyres were near their limit... just 17000 miles for Conti Vanco2's doesn't seem a lot,?

Rears are still ok, so its a search for two new tyres before our travels start again Mar/Apr.

K ;)

Yebutt, if you'd done it over 3 years it'd be paid for by now Steve.

No need to thank me I'm not registered with the FSA anymore.

Nor me, Kev. I was registered under the original FSA, at the time when the industry's reputation was such that the joke was that FIMBRA stood for 'F*ck It, My Broker's Run Away' ... :D

Didn't want to cripple ourselves and it is our first M/Home, so started off with 7 yrs and are now down to 48 months after this month [68 months total term], and we'll continue to make lump sum reductions until/unless the £/€ exchange rate makes it more sensible to transfer funds to our French Bank Account

I read on another forum that you can link the Mopeka sensors into a Victron Cerbo display. Do you have one of those fancy displays Jeff?
