What did you do to your van today?

Drained down water and boiler ready for the cold snap next week.
Knee replacement Friday so van will not move for couple of months.
I will just look at it from the window..lol
I’ve had both knees done in the last 4 years, wish I had pushed to have them done much earlier.
The main advise I can give you is follow the post op exercise regime religiously, I did, neighbour didn’t and he hasn’t full movement and still suffers pain.
A bonus for me is I’m now 3/4” taller as it straightened out my bowed legs Lol.

I joined the Association of Speakers Clubs in the Black Country some 40 years ago to manage/overcome a speech impediment, and we entered a Team Speaking Competition, where my colleague/workmate was to make a speech on Emile Coué's 'Every Day In Every Way I'm Getting and Better' affirmation. We went to a local Darby & Joan Club for a 'practice run' and offered the Club Members a chance to have a go at Public Speaking, Unsurprisingly, we had only one taker amongst the elderly, a very dour lady with a strong local accent whose speech ran:

'Ah dow unnerstan that foreign speecifyin' but that mon's talk about gettin; better an' better every day, reminded me of a young bloke in our village donkey's years agoo who had terribul knock knees. Every day, 'e used to recite that 'Every day, in every way, I get better an' better' sayin' and d'yo know what? After 5 years of sayin' that, he was the most bow legged mon for miles around ...' :D

Brought the house down, it was so unexpected, and the comic timing was impeccable!

What price is a MOT theses days as I’ve not payed for one for over 40 years lolol
Loosing out then. We get £20 Halfords voucher and a free MOT nowadays. Your mate is ripping you off and keeping the vouchers :D :D :D

I'll take onboard your advice thanks .

M/Home MOT passed today. Car MOT booked in for 13/12; Elaine's 'MOT' booked in at Hospital for 20/12; Just hoping that I don't have to book in anywhere on 27/12 so that we can get away, probably on 3/1 to keep the Tuesday theme going :D

Mine passed but it needs 2 front tyres and disc pads as they both are near the limit.
Then we'll be ready for the off in the new year, once we get my driving licence and Linda's passport.
It's amazing how the power of the sun helps.

You must be very graceful (sic) that all the MOTs were not booked in for a day later !!

I was hoping that the Tiguan could have been tested a little earlier, David, to give time in subsequent years for repairs to be undertaken before we depart around 24th November, but we have been hampered by waiting for Elaine's hospital appointment and her [now cancelled] Jury Service Citation. But we can always leave Tig with the garage next year, and ask them to drop the car off. If there are no problems next week, I can still get the 2023 MOT booked at least 7 days before departure so I should have enough leeway [famous last words!]

When are you aiming to get away, Lee? Are you going for 90 days in the Winter Sun?

We're not sure, it's dependent on me getting my driving licence sorted, it's due in March but we'll be away and Linda getting her passport back.
Once that is sorted we'll make the decision when to go.

We're in a similar situation, Lee. Elaine's hospital operation is 20th December, so we need to wait on the 'fit to travel' verdict before booking Ferry/Tunnel. Faintly ironic that, in a Developed Country economy, it's possible to get worn out bits replaced on the M/Home quicker than worn out bits on the human body replaced ... Image now of Brunhilde on the raised Ramp 1 at Kwikfit having brakes replaced, with Elaine supported by a pair of Trolley Jacks waiting for the air gun to become free ... :D And me in the Commercial Waste Bin when Elaine reads this post ...

Just sitting in the van after a wander around Keswick and it’s a beautiful day really sunny but only 3degreesView attachment 65187
Sunny in Burntisland by the sea, but only 1 degree and the light wind is cold enough to take the 'feels like' temperature into minus figures. There is a local Campervan owner whose fairly ancient VW T5 conversion has a hand painted sign on the rear offside, 'Cool as Penguin Piss'. Today could be his lucky day :D
