What did you do to your van today?

Recent poor weather, esp poor solar yield, has hammered the Leisure Battery ['LB'], which had fallen to about 12.8v. The Ablemail App has stopped working after the 22 December 'upgrade', so I had no idea what the Vehicle Battery ['VB'] was registering. Dug out the old meter to check the VB, and it was 12.56v ... Today's sunshine was helping, but plugged the EHU into the Hallway socket for a couple of hours. LB now around 13.3v and able to transfer power to the VB, which was registering 13.1v at the end of the afternoon. Should be enough to fire the engine up and take it for a quick spin tomorrow, but I am in the hands of Aviva, God help me for a sensible response to the Flat Insurance Claim, and they have promised to call me between 0900 and 1100. So that's the morning used up, and if we take Brunhilde out in the afternoon, we'll probably lose the parking space, so may leave the trip until Sunday or Monday. Life is too complicated, and death is too irrevocable ... :D

ABS light on due to broken reluctor ring OS front, MOT now expired, decided to replace both CV joints at same time in readiness for our long trip away.

Plan was to start job today, unfortunately weather stopped play, along with my hydraulic jack unable to lift front of the Brick. Ho hum, garage job!

I don't pay for MOT either, Jeffrey, Bea does :ROFLMAO:

As mentioned, reluctor ring broken on OS. Factors I use stated they cant source a new ring, only type available where ring is already afixed to CV joint. See image.

Ive never seen my LB below 13.2
But I don't have several hectares of Solar Panel, Jeff, or a 460Ah LB, AND I live in Scotland where Winter Solar Power is not that great! 2 days of the last week had NO Solar generation, and 1 day staggered to 10Ah, more to let me know that the Panel and the Battery were still in the land of the living ...! :D

Scotland is a wonderful country in which to live, but every place has its drawbacks; and, when it comes to Winter Solar Power on a small M/Home. Scotland's drawback is larger than the proverbial elephant's foreskin  On the bright side, there is a Diving Centre within 300m of our Flat, so they may be able to supply four skin divers to address my problem ...

That's a bugger Terry. As far as the mot goes I've never payed for one for the last 40 years .
Jeff, my original plan was to purchase a newer MH with my pension lump sum (when it arrives). When away over the summer we discussed and made a decision to keep our Arto, as we are still very happy with it, it has all the bells and whistles on it from when we purchased 2015. Most importantly, base vehicle has never let us down, even during long hot drives last summer.

Plan is to throw a few ££'s on it, while front wheels are off, I'll have new pads fitted, same for rear, I'll have the engine bay steam cleaned, check for corrosion and fix if and where applicable, then give it a good going over with Lanoguard. Plan is to hopefully keep it going for four year, as when I hit the 70 mark, I will require a medical as the Arto requires C class licence, if a fail, a re-think required. Ultimately though, why change a MH that we still enjoy.

And stop hammering on about free MOT's :giggle:

My test is up weeks back and cannot get one booked, dont care as the police are not looking these days as long as taxed and insured, I shall try again later in the year with my kids smart ph which is required.

Steve your not that much further north than me and its not the amount of solar that makes the differance this time of the year its the fact i can tilt them to 90 degrees to the sun .

Thanks, Jeff. Our 180w Panel is fixed on the roof curve over the drop down bed, so we're a wee bit limited. The weather disregarded the forecast yesterday and we had around 5 hours sun which provided 50Wh solar [LB was still on Bulk charging, reaching 13,3v] which should be enough to support the LB in providing a constant VB top up [9 seconds of every 10 seconds] via the AMT12.

I'll take Brunhilde out for a trip tomorrow to get the engine warmed up and both batteries recharged. The M/Home hasn't been used for the last 4 weeks because of our illness and the faffing about with the Flat Insurance Claim/Contractors/Lack of Contractors/Idiot neighbours etc so a couple of hours dealing with leisure should be good!

Picked the carpets up from Style flooring in Portobello who were whipping the edges and fitted them ready for Burns night. 20230116_125722.jpg20230116_125701.jpg

Both chest fridge/freezers are now hard wired into the van. Both have a 12v fan retro fitted to help cooling. I do it nice, cos I do it (at least) twice. Lol😂.
The 3 way will come out after the spring trip. Going to use it while the weather remains cold, aided with freezer blocks, until I've used some of the frozen supplies, and made room. Pensioner's discount at Iceland will be used to the full, well until the freezers are, for this trip.
