What did you do to your van today?

I sorted out a rope winch and a bar to help me get my mobility scooter in and out of the hab door without hurting myself so much, it works okay on my own but will be better with two of us.

The next job will be sorting out the loose kitchen tap.

Well done you, see youu are brighter than we think LOL. 😂 😂 😂 😂

My turn now, two big spotlamps did not work on the way home last night so will take agander at them today, prob a fuse on the relay at close to max amps output, lamps have 100w bulbs in each, so 2 lamps 16.5 amps and fuse 20amp.

Wire worm treatment as a result of an MOT advisory of corrosion in offside wheel arch.

I thoroughly enjoyed 2 days grovelling under my 2005 Benimar wire brush and scraper in hand, then having HG Rust killer dripping over my head, before getting splattered with Hammerite aerosol underseal. (Not!)
Had to put her up on the levelling blocks as was not willing to go under with just scissor jack. Just enough room for my racing snake like torso to fit under. What fun?

Forget hammerite, 2 pack zink rich epoxy is best after all rust removed.

Faulty burned relay swapped over and all lights now working, it was a 30ah but i think water got in and disolved the carbon contact, next job is a plasting cover over the top of them.

Gaslow 6kg and filling point kit + POL adaptor arrived yesterday all the way from Bangor, so as the sun is out I'll be fitting today, hole saw and tools all ready.

That didn't go well, previously I have fitted in the vans skirt, but I've had vans where they were through the locker wall so all contained even if it leaks, so I looked at the particularly useful instructions that show it going through a thick wall on the caravan:-

I assumed the kit would include what to do if neither of the two sets of screws were long enough, but no.

The locker is steel lined so I had to cut through that too but the outer and inner parts don't come anywhere near close enough when you try to fit them>

So I'm unsure what to do next, I am assuming that you need to make a bigger hole on the inside to let the two parst come together but how on earth can I do that, hole saw is no good as even if I had the space to get a drill and hole saw in there it'd wander all over, but the locker is too small anyway.

HELP

Drill a chain ring inside the locker from inside the van, knock out and file the hole smooth and if you wish put a bit of u shaped trim on the hole in the steel locker to stop the hose rubbing, a flat strip of rubber bonded on would also help stop any water ingress as well.

Can't get in with a drill Trev or I'd have done that, I'm just giving my back a break as it started raining, then I'm going to see if I can get in with my jig saw an nibble it away I'll draw around the inner part and cut to the line if I can get in.

I've been ringing round my mates for a die grinder or an air saw.

Shame there isn't such a thing as an iSaw, I'm hoping I don't make one ;) ;)

I had a go from outside Trev going through the 70mm hole, no chance from inside even though the drill drivers I bought 12 years ago from Lidl are still working well only 10v too, I bought a pack of die bits ages ago when up in Scotland in a Lidl I think, I had them in the bottom of my clothes locker in the van, been there a very long time, but I see them each time I open it, anyway I started though 70mm hole to see if it would do anything and it was effective up to a point but a lot of force needed and it was hurting me to do it but I carried on, then I wondered if I could chain ring as you suggested from outside through the 70mm hole (I'm not coming back as a guyknowcollegeist) that worked too but was very painful each time it broke through with the jerking, but I did about a 1/4 to 1/3 of it then it pi$$ed it down again so as I'm in pain I'm stopping for today, the van is locked up, I may have ago again tomorrow if it's fine.

I am really annoyed that the instructions only mention a 70mm hole, nothing about the insulated inner walls of vans or caravans especially as I have a 82mm hole saw that I might have been able to use with a right angled drill it is a fraction bigger diameter than the inner part.
