What did you do to your van today?

Van serviced and an MOT. All OK with no advisories.

Reported the amber warning light (exclamation mark in triangle) which came on briefly for a single day's start up. The Fiat diagnostic tool showed that there was a software update available, which they carried out FOC, erased the code from the system, and asked me to monitor.

Just a Query....did Fiat do your Service & was it expensive if you don't mind me asking 🤔

I know you live in Stoke, so comparison is subjective.

It was the Fiat garages registered Fiat Technician, their only one. There are various grades of service and they vary hugely depending on what year/type of service is due. Fiat have been dumping garages all around here for a while (for various reported reasons), and my choices around East Sussex are limited. My past dealer, Johns Cross Motorhomes, ceased trading which is a shame as they were superb.

So yes, it was expensive, but that's part of the fun of owning a campervan. They threw in the MOT, battery test, and diagnostic test & reset for "free" which is a sure sign that I have paid too much. I will take it on the chin and plan future trips, cos I am in God's waiting room and Yvonne has recently been poorly.

Thanks for the reply , I use a local lad (not Fiat Dealership) he's not cheap but I believe you only get what you pay for & he is a good Mechanic & knows his stuff so Our Van will be going to him for a Service & I think it might as well have C/Belt & Alternator Belt changed at the same time as a 69 plated Van. You both enjoy your time in your Van 😎👍

400 mm Drawers fitted in the cupboard, diy shop tomorrow for some planed pine, then fit the new door, the opening is now 420mm and it used to be 270, thats alot nicer to get things in and out of . You can see the difference at the bottom of this shot where the lighter coloured glued paper is View attachment 74483
That's tidy. I want to do something like this and reconfigure the layout in our kitchenette as its pretty naff setup at the moment, what with the rotating island internal thing and a circular fronted cupboard that just takes up room. Would much rather have some drawers like you have done. Very good job. 👍

Under the van this morning and eventually figured out how the hand brake adjuster came apart. Fitting the new one was fairly quick, pity I will have forgotten how to do it if I ever need to again. Not come across anything like it for an adjuster before but handbrake working now :)

Today I removed some mid 2000s technology from van, think it was a digi box and something else with lots of speaker cables coming out of it -the cupboard above fridge had a false back and all this mess with wireing was stuff behind, so now the vans lighter and we have a bigger cupboard for pans etc.
I've also ordered a full set of leds to replace all the antique lighting and some other bits and pieces like a new TV aerial and booster that tells you when your pointing aerial right direction, the old aerial had a bit broken off it.
I went up for a look on roof and discovered the silicone has seen better days so going to remove all skylights and redo them tommorow before they get to the point of leaking, also the front and rear seams while I'm at it.
Loads of tlc to do but I'm getting there and its starting to look tidy.

Guys came and did some sealing using rv tape. Discovered a cracked skylight cover at the back also a crack in the roof. As I haven't hit anything a bit of a mystery.

Maybe a branch or debris from wind that you dont know about?

Last week, David ( Wildebus) do a superb job of installing all my electrics kit.
I am now the happy owner of a Fogstar 560Ahr battery, Victron multiplus & Orion 50amp b2b.
To feed this substantial bit of kit I have 350w of solar panels going through a Victron 100/50 mppt controller.
After all of that I travelled up to Inveraray to assist Iain (Fergie1061) with his van conversion.
Whilst there we fitted a small house fridge and a microwave. All this, with a induction hob & an air fryer, I am ready to start enjoying my new van!

Glad you are pleased, Pat (y) I like the new way we found to run the cabling :)

It is just over 4 years since I installed the new Lead-Carbon Battery Bank in my Motorhome, so decided to do a load test and check how much capacity I still have after that time (4 years is considered a reasonable life expectation for batteries if you speak to a Motorhome dealer).
Quite a few folk here on the forum have these same batteries - The Expedition Plus GEL Lead Carbon from Alpha Batteries - so this test might be of interest to them to what to expect?

Going to run the batteries until they are discharged as low as possible and see how many Amp Hours I can drag out of them :) (With Lead Carbons, you CAN take down to totally dead - 100% DoD - without harm)

300Ah bank (3 x 100Ah Batteries) and lowest discharge to date is 273Ah - so 90% DoD)

PS. The Cumulative Ahs drawn of 13353Ah above is not complete as I fitted this specific Battery Monitor some time after installing the Batteries (can't recall how long, but at least a year later)

Would Fergie like a 11kg Gasit bottle? I want to swap my 11kg Gasit for a 6kg refillable because the 11kg doesn't fit in my newold camper locker.

Today:
I collected my A/S Bourton from the Autosleeper factory in Willersey after some repairs and a damp certificate.
Sorry just saw this, but got the bottles frae reiverlad!! ...if a keep going I'll even get the kitchen sink!!! 😂🤣😂
