France/ Spain trip with possibly Portugal.

We are going to Elvas next week , Beja and Vila Viçosa..
Vila V is a fantastic town for those who like history and sightseeing.
Great site at the fire station.
We won't be using it,
Because we've not had a van since 2019, We've saved up enough dosh to pay for for a hotel.
It's not all bad news.

caserses is always rammed but apparently lee was overrun with moggies at merida which was always the best alternative

Just wish we were on our way...goodness knows when we will get to Portugal this year! Waiting for the Portuguese authorities to make us an appointment for WABC (withdrawal agreement biometric card) and for life to offer space to go away!

Just got ours, Ruth... Well .. Done the formalities and paid for them. We'll know in 2 weeks if it all went ok.
There was an unholy panic in the run up to Xmas. And the system was overwhelmed..

We were in no hurry to travel, so waited.. It was more convenient than running up to Lisbon Or Faro and we were both locally processed inside 20 pleasant minutes.
Still in no hurry to travel.

Had an appointment for end December which they then changed to Boxing Day! Haven't had the next appointment, but as our time to travel is limited we don't want to come out and return then get another date which we can't get to! Nothing we can do but wait....last one was for Castelo Branco which was ok but prefer Pombal. Just need it sorted.

Good luck, Ruth.
Do you have the residential documents with the Q code?
They are valid until you get your Bio cards. Might be worth checking when those become outdated ?

We are staying at Los Alcazeres in a free carpark by the park, Quite a few motorhomes staying here, it's 5 minute bike ride to the beach.

There is a camping car area Narejod next door that offers full service for €5 or it's 11.90 PN for the first 3 nights, then it drops to €7.90 a night, electric is metered. There are a number of pitches that don't have ehu.

There are also another site next door, called Eco Area Los Alcazeras which is €10 a night and benefits from having water and grey drainage on each pitch.

We stayed on this site when it first opened in 2019, you need to like airplanes though as it's next to a Spanish military airbase, they train there pilots here, plus there display team, so you see a free airshow, only seems to be between 9.00am and 5.00pm.

We went on the scooter to another camper site close by called LA Ribera that had been recommended, we had something to eat in there cafe/bar, the food was excellent and cheap, so we're the drinks, no wonder it was full, a Lidl and Aldi are 5 minutes walk away and there is a cycle path to the beach that is 5km away and they have autogas tank there to refill your LPG. I have taken photos of the pitches and prices.

Small world: we recently had 10 nights on this trip at Camping Mar Menor which is just down the road from you. It's right on the beach. If you fancy a nice meal, it has the best restaurant we have ever come across on any campsite in Spain.
