Italian Gadabout

Fun you should say that Sam my water pump was making a fun noise so I bought a new one and I'll keep the old one as a just in case lolol.
We don't have much storage space in Brunhilde, Jeff, and I do tend to carry too much 'standby kit and tools'. It's a good job that I have Justin's case to hold it all in, really [tough it does tend to slide around the floor of the Van ...] :D

I would have thought Steve your coach built has more room in itthan my pvc ?.
No, Jeff. It's only 5.99m and the 'garage' is just a broom cupboard [Burstner call it a Ski Cupboard, but that's why I don't work in Marketing!] The broom cupboard has 4 shelves about 55cm x 37cm, and then we have a 1/2 wardrobe [partly taken up with the vehicle toolkit incl Jack] in the bathroom. We have removed the Burstner Fixed Table to gain access to limited storage on the passenger seat side of the lounge, but there is nowhere to stow the outside chairs, so they have to sit on the lounge floor [and we can fit them in now that the table has gone], but it is still an exercise in clambering over stuff. The drop down bed means overhead cupboard storage is minimal [saw a Dutch version of the predecessor model last Summer; this has a fixed bed and two rows of overhead cupboards, so much more storage, but less loungs space. On balance, probably a better layout than ours!]

Not really a good day today. We managed to park over in the Retail Park last night, with no problems except that we were on edge all night. This morning we were able to buy a new pump and it was up and running inside of an hour. Next job was to fill with fuel, so we pulled off the motorway, into a small town, and avoided motorway prices. Then half an hour later, we had a blowout, rear offside, in the roadworks on the A5, somewhere near Verona.
Must say the wrecker was very quick, maybe they were watching the roadworks on camera, and just as I had put out the second triangle, the wrecker and the Police turned up! Fantastic service. Very soon we were on the back of the wrecker and were taken to a tyre company. They have ordered two tyres for delivery tomorrow, by nine, so this evening we have a borrowed tyre, just to keep the van from falling over! So, all in all, a very expensive day, but at least we have come to no harm, except of course, a bleeding bank account!

You've been on this earth long enough Rog to know that your earlier post [IIRC, the gist, if not verbatim], '2006 M/Home just keeps chugging along, never misses a beat, don't know how it does it', was inviting the 'Kiss of Death' from life .... And there's a global banking crisis developing, so you can email your Bank with a 'I've been trying to stave it off by starting a one man effort to keep the Bank in business by borrowing a few bob until Pension Day' exolanation. Might buy you a few days grace, and remember, 'God loves a Trier'. It's what keeps me going ... :D

Thanks Steve, but I haven’t quite got the rope around my neck just yet!

Roger, why two new tyres, do the Italians have the rule that they have to match on the same axle ?

and was offside our offside or Eurpean offside ?

Good question Paul, personally, I don’t like fitting one new tyre on an axle, I prefer to fit both, but also the translation through the RAC suggested that it would be safer, so I’m just going along with whatever is deemed safest. The other two tyres will probably need to be replaced by the end of this trip anyway. The ‘good’ tyre on the rear axle will become my new spare.
