Not to put a downer on it Greggbear but when you say ” permanently “ fixed be aware that you will need to remove it for MOT’s. DVSA are also getting fussy about these Dash shelves in lorries and can issue fines as they do reduce your view to That part of the windscreen. Those truck driver that do still use them fix them with Velcro strips.
 
Something which surprises me a little is the bathroom windows in Motorhomes are always clear and not frosted in any way.

So added a covering to address that ...

Sheet not wide enough to do in one peice, and unfortunately couldn't line up the pattern to match without ending up with having 3 pieces - and the 3rd piece wouldn't line up anyway, so just had to make the best of it.
Looks nice I think and allows good light in whilst providing privacy.

Decided also today needed to be ready for the bugs! Bought a Blue Light Bug Zapper years ago but was a bit pricey to run with 4 'D' Cells. But then though could do a very basic mod ....
Couple of wires on the +ve and -ve connections on the battery pack with a USB plug on the other end. Removed two batteries to ensure batteries were out the picture

The Device is nominally 6V, but a 1.5V battery will generally be at 1.2V very quickly (and what rechargeble batteries start at), so a 5V Output from a USB socket will be just fine :)

Should work well (y) Very easy to make the mod with no tools or soldering needed, just a USB power lead to strip the +ve and -ve leads to push in.
 
Had some bad boy BFGoodrich tyres fitted. Adjusted the pressure but now my TPMS goes nuts every time I start the van 😭

This prompted me to have a look see and up came this on Fleabay. USB powered and built in battery.

Looks ideal but could be a slight problem with that depending what the numbers means?

USB powered, which means 5V.
5W at 5V should mean a current of 1000mA (1A), which is ok for a typical socket, but they state 4000mA (= 4A).
If it does pull 4A that will be too much for most USB Sockets so you would need a higher current-capable version (readily available and not expensive so not a problem).
A draw of 4000mA at 5V would make it a 20W unit and when I was looking at these, before I thought of just adapting the one I had, I did see quite a few 20W devices, so it could well be that power? (it could of course be 4000mA at 1.25V. That would make more sense for the charging side as well)

Just a potential heads up.
 
Back from trip to Kent, horrendous traffic ...journey took over an hour more than usual and road spray was continual.
Now relaxing back indoors having unpacked everything, put washing in and settled mum for two week stay with us. Just remembered the very damp silver screen (two nights heavy rain/storms!) which I stuffed in the bag in the garage, intending to lay it out to dry .....job for tomorrow!
 
We had one of those fly zapper duberries in our conservatory for a while and came to the conclusion you have to swat the flies with the blidey thing. Never saw a dead fly anywhere near it. I think the flies thought it was there to help them see in the dark.
I would be interested to hear if you kill any...

The ones you see in Food Takeaways seem to zap quite well, but they do also seem to be much brighter though.
 
Cleaned van inside and out, linen washed, dried and replaced.

Tomorrow I'll unfurl the awning and dry it in the predicted sunshine around midday. Might even lubricate its mechanism, just to keep it running smoothly.
