What did you do to your van today?

A third supplier confirmed 8.0 Bar max so I ordered and await delivery with fingers crossed.
Both other vendors are still listing their sets at 6.0 Bar.

Should have bought a tyrepal system, more expensive but like most things you get what you pay for imho.
 
Got a long pipe so that grey waste can go to the drain at our new house and topped up the washer fluid ready for the long round trip there for a few days before the next round of hospital appointments.
 
A couple of weeks ago the airbag light came on on the dash. After a quick test with the obd2 tester to confirm it was an écu fault, I sent it off to Crashdata last week. Got it back a couple of days later.
After searching for reasons why the écu fails,consensus seemed to be a failing starter battery ( and Crashdata states battery must be holding a good charge and fully charged before refitting the unit)
So, I bought a new starter battery too. The original is just 3 years old, but it’s a FIAMM battery and they do seem to fail early.
Anyway, I bought a new Bosch battery ,fitted it this morning with the repaired écu and all is fine again.
Back home to France tomorrow. 🇫🇷

Thank you all for your kind comments. We've finally bit the bullet and have just put a deposit on a Chausson 610, so will be bidding a fond farewell to magnificent Mavis - the best introduction to motorhoming that anyone could hope for.

We will be putting her up for sale in a few days and wondered where the best place is to advertise her is, apart from the obvious (Auto Trader & Ebay). Any advice about selling Motorhomes very gratefully received. Despite the obvious excitement of getting an (almost) new van, it will still be hard to let Mavis go as she has been no trouble, still starts and drives like a dream and has everything you could ever need (apart from Air Conditioning) and can be parked in a normal car-parking space, no bother.

You clearly have loved Mavis, her interior is beautiful, cosy, and so well looked after.


For us, I took our van for it's annual MOT. No matter what age each of our motorhomes are, we're all optimistic, but nervous.
She passed, with no advisories. :love:
 
Emptied the cassette before it became a biohazard, and cleaned some parakeet excrement off the sunroof, using a squeegee with extendable pole. Still to short to see where I was aiming so Elaine inside shouting 'left hand down a bit' ... Kept the neighbours intrigued 🙄

The Bike Cover we bought is too big (made for electric bikes) but the standard 2 bike cover would have risked the cover snagging/ripping on the handlebars.The recent spate of high winds has caused the Bike Cover to 1/2 inflate and slide down the Bike Rack, aided by the 2nd bike having narrower handlebars, so creating an area of sag for the surplus material to allow rain to gather and cause the Cover to slide down the Bike Rack

Tried a 'proof of concept' test for a temporary fix by borrowing a wooden spoon from the kitchen, and strapping it to the shorter handlebar bike on the 'Van side', to provide a support for the saggy spare material. Success! Much of the slack removed, but more work needed

Trip to Chinese shop to buy 2 pairs of cheap exhaust style clamps, 4 pre drilled (had to redrill to resize) flat metal jointing plates(cheap and nasty enough to bend under the handlebar as the nuts were tightened!) and 2 radiator paint brushes, total cost €5.80

Cut brush heads off and place flat wood handle along handlebar grip. Exhaust bracket x 2 secured the wooden handle, with flat plates on the underside tightened to bend to shape of handle grip. End of paint brush handle 30mm from M/home body, allowing Bike Cover surplus material to be supported and kept taut by the draw strings of the Cover. Still a bit of a faff to hook the Cover into place at 2m height, so modification will be to screw rubber door stop (with 45 degree recess cut at the base on the Van side) to top face of paintbrush handle to enable the Bike Cover to be hooked into position with a €2.50 broom stale. A job that rven Heath Robinson would be ashamed of, but longer-term fix will be put name down on Waiting List for a proper Hinderman Cover like the East German on the next pitch has! He did comment that my antics reminded him of his olden days behind The Wall! 🤭

Between us we managed to clean most of it today. The roof can wait for the renovation clean when we can rearrange it. Very impressed with the Fenwicks products, we always used to use Muc off caravan cleaner but it no longer seems to be available.

My mother was born in Kettering, within walking distance of Wicksteed Park (London Road?), so lots of trips there to see Uncle Sid & Aunt Edna. Wickies Park at that time was free, with the only paid attractions being the Water Chute, the Train (Lady of the Lake and King Arthur (?)), the Helter Skelter, and the Rowing Boats ...

I cleaned up the inside today. Enjoying seeing how well the Fenwicks has done the outside. We have to isolate for a few days so tomorrow the plan is to tidy up the outside plastic bits, which should be a very pleasant task in the alleged 18 degrees sunshine!
 
Still raining in Spain, so just brushed the accumulated crumbs and bits of gravel/pitch debris that had been carried inside. Then legged it to the local Valor Chocolate Shop for a giant hot chocolate and churros ... The photo was supposed to show how thick the chocolate was, by my holding a piece of churro, between finger and thumb, dipped in the drink. However, the result looks more like a man in need of some blue tablets to perk him up ... 🤭
