I removed the towbar from our MH which weighed 40kg, so it took about 60kg off the back axle, which matters when you have a garage.I have been putting it off since I bought the van in November but today decided that the towbar just HAD to come off. I will never tow with the van and have no intention of adding a bike rack, so... Off it came!
Was not a bad job and the bolts and nuts all unscrewed easily. I have left the 7 pin connector still wired up and tucked away behind the bumper for now. I might keep the towbar as it might be of interest to a prospective buyer at some point in the future? But I might offer it for sale on the bay...
The whole lot came to around 32kg which is a useful addition to my available payload.
Motorhome Boot SaleStarted the loading of tools & other sundries that will have to be returned to Scotland from France. Heaven knows where it will all go ...

No, Chris, this is the stuff that I need to keep! I have already donated to charity/sold all the semi-specialist kit that I bought for the project in France. We will be travelling with boxes of tools in the habitation area, so 'tripping the light fantastic' during the daytime! Good job it's only a one off trip, but depends on how quickly we can leave after the house sale. Estate Agent visiting this morning to confirm all is present and correct ahead of the sale, set for Monday, 9th SeptemberMotorhome Boot Sale
If you were to visit Notre Dame, you would be in La Belle France, with or sans Hump ... Or auditioning for a remake of The Clangers ...Finally sorted the passenger seat swivel and cleaned out the front end of the van ready for La France in a couple of weeks.
I hate going back to our houseParked it back on the drive sadly
