What did you do to your van today?

Found out how to reset the Truma 507h code. When we were away last week we ran out of gas on Sunday night so put a fresh bottle on. Heating did not work so assumed I had connected another empty and not having enough pressure for the heating systemto work. Turns out you have to turn the dial until you reach the warning triangle the press reset. Strange as I've ran out of gas before and never experienced this untillast week, I had even tried turning off the controller but it would not clear. We had to find another way to keep warm.

Descaled the Water Heater [but will have to wait until tomorrow to do the final full water system flush out, fitted the mounting box for the fridge fans, and assisted Elaine in resewing the 'safety net' buckle on the nearside of the drop down bed [fell off in 2022 and I never got round to fixing it ...]

Also began the decluttering of my myriad of boxes of tools, nuts, bolts and other essential/'never know when we might need one of these' [so carry 6 'just in case'] to remove over 5kg of kit that hasn't seen daylight in 3 years ... Another sweep tomorrow to remove more detritus!

Finally, booked the M/Home in with local Caravan/M/Home Service Centre for next Wednesday for a 'short sweep' of the fridge flue. The same Centre advised me in Sep 2022 [last time it was done] that it is not possible to do a full sweep without removing the Dometic Tower Fridge Freezer with Oven on Top, because the flue is in 2 parts. So, the employee checked the colour of the flame, rodded the lower part of the flue and adjusted the spark piezo device to ensure that it would fire up ok

Keep up the good work Steve

Washed it....no mean feat when I have to carry each bucket of water up twenty odd steps from the tap. Can't have a hose as parking place up above the barn by the road, no pressure from a gravity fed system! :ROFLMAO:
Plan on finding a jet wash place when we are on way back to UK . But I can be smug about my exercise levels.

Stripped out all the junk that had been thrown onto thecab overhead shelf since 2021; enough caps and hats to start a Millinery business, n number of USB leads [but I can never find one ...] and emptied the cupboards of redundant bits of crockery, cutlery etc. Then played with the Leisure Battery to test some more functionality by charging the ebike batteries. Solar ws much stronger than yesterday, so the Battery barely broke sweat

Then I remembered that the hab door mounted waste bin mounting bracket broke on our last trip, so decided to superglue the broken piece. A 5 minute job grew arms and legs, and the glue refused to stick. So made a tubular platform of 2 offcuts of L profile aluminium screwed together at right angles to bridge the gap between the plastic mounting brackets in the Hab Door and screwed he Bin Frame to the aluminium tube to make a much stiffer frame. But what a faff in restricted spaces; it was dark by the time we finished ...

But, on a brighter note, managed to get the Ablemail ABB07 woring again, so I now have Bluetooth reporting on the SOC for both the Leisure and Vehicle Batteries again :ROFLMAO:

Took my Ford to have a new offside wishbone. Checked yesterday that it was going to start OK, No problem, picked the van up from the garage and then went of to Morrisons to get some diesel, filled up paid and jumped back in only to find it wouldn’t start, tried three or four times and it eventually fired up. Drove home and parked up stopped the engine and tried to restart it again, no luck. Tried again but pushed the key hard into the ignition lock barrel, success! So it looks like a new ignition lock required. I have heard of this problem but associated with people using the van commercially with lots of stop starts and not so much in Campers and Motorhomes.

I finished fitting the Thetford oven to complete the fridge stack. The trick was to to seal the cabinet in such a way that any gas leaked would not enter the cabin. Since fitting the Thetford compressor fridge, the old 3way fridge/oven stack side panel vents had to be closed up. Thanks for the support on my regulator pressure dilemma. I found out that all recent continental builds do not use 50mbar anymore. I need to get a habitation check to certify the few gas connections I had to make. Still looking for someone to do it here in Dublin.
I also had the right rear ABS sensor replaced. I couldn't get it out so the mechanic had to remove the wheel hub to pull it through. Just a little too heavy a job for me these days.

You need a gas safe engineer with lpg component if you want it certifying. Most HAB check places will not have this, that is if you really want certification 👍

Took the M/Home for a fridge flue clean. When I arrived, the Boss said he could tell the system was ok because the flame and igniter were burning the right colour and because there were no fumes or sooty deposits around the top gas vent. But he then went on to say that I should get a hab check to preserve my insurance ...

And finished off by saying that Lithium Batteries are not suitable for M/Homes because they lose power with no warning and don't charge in the cold, whereas a Lead Acid has a gradual power decine [he didn't mention buggering them up by deep discharge ...]. Only consolation was he didn't charge for the flame inspection, but a surreal experience. Probably time to look for a new Testing Facility ...

Probably. Even the best of them get their facts wrong. The good ones learn though.

A new tester sounds l8ke a good idea Steve lolol

I’ll do your test for you Steve the same one I do to my van every day Iook at it and say that’s a motorhome then from 50ft away I can do the same test yes still a motorhome 100ft that’ll cost you more I’ll need to put my glasses on yes still a motorhome.

I caught wing mirror while reversing in the other day ( shuddup Wully 🤭 ) and bottom thingy broke. Removed mirror, cleaned/filed residue from what must have been a previous break ( not me ) Gorilla 🦍 glued back in U brk back in place, then clamped, and added mastic for extra adhesion. Leave overnight to set next to stove, refit the morra.

Have you still got that video of when I showed you how to reverse into your drive. I can always come over and show you again Or I could give you a quote to widen that driveway. Better still let Bea do it next time.

Kidding aside you fixed it I’d rather break a mirror scuff or bumper than damage a main panel.
