What did you do to your van today?

Was it local to you steve so I can not RECOMMEND
Yes, Gordon; 12-13 miles from home; roughly speaking, Lochore is the 1/2 way distance between Burntisland and Dunfermline. His workshop is booked solid, so a quick check of the fridge flame and an even quicker flick of the [metaphorical] duster to flick the rust, soot and spiders' webs would have saved allocating a formal booking slot for a 10 minute job that I would have happily paid for, either through the books or by way of a biscuit/tea fund donation. He did say he had a major rewire job, correcting a DIY bodge, that was driving him up the wall, so maybe he was preoccupied

I caught wing mirror while reversing in the other day ( shuddup Wully 🤭 ) and bottom thingy broke. Removed mirror, cleaned/filed residue from what must have been a previous break ( not me ) Gorilla 🦍 glued back in U brk back in place, then clamped, and added mastic for extra adhesion. Leave overnight to set next to stove, refit the morra.

You don't need Needle Files, Terry; you have a natural taleent for getting under people's skin ... :ROFLMAO:

Have you still got that video of when I showed you how to reverse into your drive. I can always come over and show you again Or I could give you a quote to widen that driveway. Better still let Bea do it next time.

Kidding aside you fixed it I’d rather break a mirror scuff or bumper than damage a main panel.
No danger of Bea parking through the castle wall, she did try front drive once, disaster!!!

You did a grande job reversing through castle wall for your very first try. Can’t say same after we returned from the pub 😂

I’ll do your test for you Steve the same one I do to my van every day Iook at it and say that’s a motorhome then from 50ft away I can do the same test yes still a motorhome 100ft that’ll cost you more I’ll need to put my glasses on yes still a motorhome.
My intention, Wully, subject to the obvious limitations of my practical expertise, is to keep the engine serviced in accordance with Fiat's Service Manual; and to keep the Hab side serviced/inspected between Trips, in the hope of avoiding the ' ... in Spain, refilled the gas, but the fridge will not fire up/stay on. Any thoughts?' type of post that puts the mockers on the holiday, and also make it difficult/impossible for Forum Members to offer advice on from 1500 miles+ distance.

I know my approach is not foolproof, and the unexpected breakage episode can happen, but sterilising the fresh water tank, descaling the boiler, having the fridge gas burner checked and cleaned, getting the earth strap checked, and getting the LeisurE Battery+ MPPT Controller uprated, and having replacement ebikes should reduce the scope for major foul ups, and give me some peace of mind :ROFLMAO:

'Impetuous' in my life means scheduling the event for only 3 weeks time, and using only belt and braces, leaving the sock suspenders at home ... (y)

Wully slotted his Dethleffs through the outer castle wall like a pro, unfortunately due to the length of his Dethleffs, there was an inner wall impossible to manoeuvre around, which meant I could not raise the rampart main gate, leaving us venerable to attack from undesirables.

Preventative maintenance, used to swear by it at the quarry👍

Was about to type I didn’t think Edinburgh had undesirables then remembered where Trainspotting was based lol

Fitted a car radio inside because of hab radio having a life span of 30 minutes. I didn't have to drill any holes in the roof for the aerial. Guesses how on a postcard to:

We used to do a 6 monthly PM on a mini-computer at the Ford-Iveco plant in Slough.
Could be a good idea. Except in this case the computer was powered up but not connected to anything and not used for anything :)
Was like that for years and no one noticed!

Money for old rope or is that pc chips. 😂

Nope!
Actually a DAB antenna should stick on the windscreen because it has a metallic sticky pad that needs to stick to a large metallic part of the chassis so it is usually stuck to the A frame pillar.
I put the FM / AM antenna inside the wooden cable duct in the wardrobe, so it can't be seen. I would like to have DAB so I will have to enquire of Someone Who Knows a) if I can, and b) if so where and how to mount it. There is no metallic chassis part available.

Anywhere where no cables are as this will cause a mismatch and make it directional or sheild it.

I was thinking that about sticking the AM/FM antenna in the cable duct in the wardrobe, so I spent some time tieing up the cable bundle in there as far away from the antenna as possible which in fact was no more than 2". That is one of the reasons I was pleased to find that it worked well. I think the metal sticky bit of the DAB aerial would need a metallic base wouldn't it?
